Main Bathroom

Balwyn

This 1930’s home has been renovated previously; the newly proposed bathroom is a south facing bathroom that needed to compliment the new kitchen. Consideration needed to be given to tile choices as it is on the darker side of the home.
The existing bathroom contained a vanity, bath and shower recess. Due to all of these elements being in one room the room looked cramped and enclosed. The bathroom was not a comfortable space to be in.

Client Brief
Client wished to remove the disused bath to create a larger usable bathroom floor space to enable a walk-in shower recess to be constructed.
Provisions were to be made to address the lack of storage in the bathroom. Visible power points were to be tucked away.
Terracotta floor tiles are currently laid in a room next door to the bathroom.
It is important to introduce tiles and accents that would tie the terracotta into the new bathroom. The bathroom faces south so looking to create a room that is as light as possible.

Design Statement
A newly designed floor plan saw the unused bath removed to open up the space creating enough room for a walk-in shower recess with a niche to store shampoo bottles.
The double basin wall mounted vanity with draws gives an illusion of a larger floor space whilst providing plenty of easy to access storage. The 3-door mirrored cabinet provides both eye level storage and allows for the power point to be installed inside the cabinet.
A fresh-looking bathroom has been achieved using natural elements, creating a space that is simple yet sophisticated, relaxed yet refined. Crisp white and light timbers sit alongside a multitude of textures which introduce a point of interest without overwhelming the space.
