Ensuite Bathroom

Hawthorn

Synopsis
Our clients modern double storey home built in early 2000’s is a contemporary style with generous room sizes. Like all families with young school aged children it is a busy household and like all families life is better when our homes are not only atheistically pleasing but are highly functional.

Design Brief
This modern ensuite with smoked glass walls which enabled the person using the bathroom to be viewed from the bedroom. The floor to ceiling glass was not stable and afforded no privacy. The ensuite was appealing due to its size. However our clients felt the ensuite lacked privacy, functionality and the glass walls did not give any sound barrier.

Design Statement
The new design saw the glass walls replaced with stud walls and a solid door to stem noise transfer. A large walk in shower recess with a wall to wall niche was enclosed with a fluted glass shower screen framed in black to compliment the black tapware.

A subtle feature tile was laid to the rear wall of the shower recess and behind the freestanding bath. A neutral tile was laid to walls and floor to keep the room light and airey.
Two individual mirrored cabinets provide eye level storage and a large wall mounted vanity provides ample storage for personal belonging. An existing hydronic heated towel ladder was reused as its size is perfect for bath sheets and in a perfect position to wrap yourself in a heated towel when you step out of the bath.
